Release notes: POS 3.0.20

28 September 2026

This release contains a single fix for mobile and desktop POS. If the Gift Aid step is skipped when a cart is refreshed, POS now asks staff to confirm or decline Gift Aid before payment can go ahead, so eligible orders are not paid for without a Gift Aid decision. No configuration changes or retraining are needed, although staff may see the new Gift Aid prompt at payment from time to time.

Gift Aid step skipped after refreshing the cart

Jira: EXN-455

Issue

If the cart was refreshed after an item eligible for Gift Aid had been added, the Gift Aid step could be skipped. The order could then be paid for without Gift Aid being confirmed or declined.

Fix

If an eligible cart reaches the payment screen with no Gift Aid decision recorded, POS now shows a "Claim Gift Aid?" prompt before the payment starts. Choosing to claim opens the Gift Aid contact details flow, and once it is complete you return to the payment screen with Gift Aid claimed. Choosing to decline records the decision and the payment you selected carries on as normal.

The decision applies to that cart only, so the same cart is not prompted again, while a new booking asks afresh. Carts with a zero total that would normally complete on their own also show the prompt first; if Gift Aid is declined there, the order does not complete automatically and you finish the booking as normal. The behaviour is the same on mobile and desktop POS.

Testing

  1. Build a cart with a Gift Aid eligible item, refresh the cart so the Gift Aid step is skipped, go to the payment screen and tap a payment method. A "Claim Gift Aid?" prompt appears before the payment starts, reading "Gift Aid was not confirmed or declined for this order. Would you like to claim it now?"
  2. Choose "Yes, claim Gift Aid". The Gift Aid contact details flow opens. Complete it and check you return to the payment screen, the order shows Gift Aid claimed and payment can go ahead.
  3. Repeat step 1 and choose the decline option instead. The payment method you tapped carries on as normal.
  4. On that same cart, tap a payment method again. No second prompt appears.
  5. Take a cart with no Gift Aid eligible items, and a cart where Gift Aid has already been confirmed, to the payment screen. No prompt appears for either.
  6. Build an eligible cart with a zero total that would normally complete on its own. The prompt appears before it completes. Choose decline and check the order does not complete automatically, so you can finish the booking yourself.
  7. Decline Gift Aid on one booking, then start a new booking with an eligible item. The prompt appears again.
  8. From the Gift Aid contact details form, open the country or address search, then come back. You return to the contact details form with the correct screen title.
  9. Repeat the steps above on both mobile and desktop POS.
