(V3) Mobile and Desktop POS + Scanning release notes - 3.0.19.1

Release notes: POS 3.0.19.1 (24 September 2026)

24 September 2026 (2f4e497)

This patch release of the POS app fixes one issue with scanning bookings from inside the basket. Previously, scanning a new booking while another customer's booking was still in the basket could carry the first customer's details across to the second booking. Scanning a different booking from the basket now clears the basket automatically and opens only the scanned booking. Because an unfinished basket is now cleared without a prompt when a different booking is scanned, we recommend briefing front-of-house teams before upgrading. There are no database migrations in this release.

Customer details carried across when scanning a new booking from the basket

Jira: EXN-403

Issue

With a booking already in the basket, scanning the next customer's booking using the hardware scan button or the scan icon in the top bar did not clear the basket. The previous customer's details carried across, so saving could record one customer's name and email address against another customer's booking. Scanning after returning to the home screen was not affected.

Fix

Scanning a different booking from inside the basket now clears the basket automatically and opens the scanned booking, showing only that customer's details. This applies to both the hardware scan button and the scan icon in the top bar. An unfinished basket is cleared without a prompt, in the same way as returning to the home screen.

If you open the scanner and close it again without scanning, the basket is kept as it was. If a card payment is in progress, the scan does not open and a message explains why, leaving the basket and payment untouched.

Testing

1. With a booking in the basket, press the hardware scan button or tap the scan icon in the top bar, and scan a different customer's booking. The basket clears and only the scanned customer's details are shown.

2. With a booking in the basket, open the scanner and close it without scanning anything. The basket is unchanged.

3. Start a card payment and, while it is in progress, press the scan button or tap the scan icon. The scanned booking does not open, a message explains why, and the basket and payment are left as they were.

4. After scanning from the basket, press Back from the scanned booking. You return to the home screen and the previous customer's screens do not reappear. Press Back a few more times; the app stays usable and does not close unexpectedly.

5. With a booking in the basket, return to the home screen instead of scanning. The basket is still cleared, as before.
